Lisa: Hey, friends, Welcome to Rview Podcast. And we are going to talk to you today about our travel and how apparently Mercury retrograde has been affecting us all week long.

George:
Yes, big time. We were completely unaware of this Mercury retrograde and apparently it has struck us hard.

Lisa:
Yeah, so I had to do a little bit of research on what a Mercury retrograde was. And what I found is that it is an astrological thing, of course, it’s when Mercury goes in reverse and fiery Liro entering its retrograde cycle and then swift moving Planet Cruise’s backwards. And we can expect frustrating miscommunications, technology meltdowns and travel mishaps. So, I think that’s pretty much sums up our week, right?

George: Yes, absolutely. So I’ll start. So we’ve planned a three week adventure in our RV. I’m going to New Orleans from New Orleans, down to Tampa from Tampa over to Orlando from Orlando back home. So I went and picked up the RV and, long behold found out that our generator, some part broke, something broke mysteriously. It’s a brand new 2018 Tiffin.

Everything’s been working fine, but some part on the generator broke. Okay, so we ordered depart. It’ll be in unfortunate will be fixed until we get back. That’s gonna be three weeks without a generator. But, hey, we’re good. We’re gonna tough it out.

Lisa:
So the generator is what you need to keep the refrigerator going And like the microwave while you’re in routes somewhere?

George:
Yes. And the air conditioner if you need it. Luckily, we didn’t need it, whether it’s been cold, so we did not need the AC. So I go to get that fixed, and then I find out that our hot water heater went.

So we have no generator, no hot water, and we’re still on our trip because we’re not gonna let that stop us.

Lisa:
So I was like, It’s fine. We’re gonna be for a week to have really nice showers at the French Quarter RV resort. And so it’s no big deal, right?

George:
No, No big deal, by the way. Quick plug for French Quarter RV resort. It’s fantastic, we love it. It’s three blocks from Bourbon Street. If anybody wants to come to New Orleans and check this place out. We stayed here last year for just a couple of days, and this year we booked it for a full week. We absolutely love it. People here are fantastic and it’s a really nice resort.

Lisa:
Uh, yeah, it is right next to the highway. And if you’re super picky, I would just bring a noisemaker so you could white noise it out. But if you hear like a siren or something, we’re actually recording in our RV at the resort today

George:
at the moment. So if you hear a siren, the background, It’s New Orleans finest. And I like my white noise is a Bacardi. So that’s how I get through the night .

Lisa:
Oh yeah, so you might hear ice clinking in the background.

George:
So let’s keep going. So we decided to continue with the trip. We’re not gonna let that stop us. So we get in the RV, we leave Charleston.

Lisa:
were already leaving, like, a day late because of some issues and everything.

George:
Yes, I tried to take it to the shop to see if the guide the shop tried to get me and tried to get it fixed, but the part, they couldn’t do it in one day. So kudos to him. He tried, but we lost one day, so we decided to stop in Panama City, Florida, to break up the drive. We were originally intending to stop at Hilton Head Motorcoach Resort. But we decided.

It’s a drive 10 hour drive from Charleston to New Orleans. So we decided, Let’s break it up and, uh, just let’s get rolling and put a couple of hours under our belt. So my copilot decides that Oh, I found us a place.

This is perfect. It’s right off the highway. So Hey, I trust my co pilot. So sure book it. Let’s go. So I got off the highway in an hour and 1/2 off the highway and we finally get to Panama. We nothing now suddenly speak French. We know nothing, I said, find a place near the highways and we could get going on hour and 1/2 later. We’ve It was a really nice place, and I would like to go back.

Lisa:
yeah I wanna see it, although it was pouring rain pretty much, it’s been pouring rain for three days.

Lisa:
Yes, so again way just had no luck so far. But tomorrow’s a new day and it’s gonna be sunny and it’s gonna be beautiful and we’re just gonna kick it into high gear tomorrow on their fix. One of the parts myself, and we’re gonna rock and roll tomorrow.

Lisa:
Yeah, so really great plug for Tiffin also. Every RV, every big working piece of equipment is gonna have problems. But Tiffin has really been amazing. You just call them on the phone and this guy walks you through like every step.

I think George might actually be in line to be a certified Tiffin mechanic after so many things he’s replaced.

George:
That sounds terrible, but it’s, you know, it happens is a motor home is a boat on land, things they’re gonna break, it rattles. It shakes. So things are gonna come lose. But tiffin again, Fantastic. They Every time I’ve called them, they’ve been able to walk me through and self diagnose the problem.

The last time i called him, we were able to fix it. I was able to fix it, and we’ve been good. And now same thing I’m hoping that we diagnosed it properly yesterday and the part and they actually shipped me the part overnight because we’re still in the warranty, free of charge. No charge for the part, and it’ll be shipped here to French Quarter RV Resort.

Lisa:
Yeah, so that’s awesome. But it’s been really crazy because not only is just the RV been problems, but, like somebody hacked into George’s credit card right before we left.

Like, little things like my new Gucci bag broke and like trying to get gas and the car doesn’t work and George goes to fill up the RV and pay goes in and the pump doesn’t work.

I mean, it’s just been, like constant, like a million little things like that. I can’t even go to details. Because it sounds so petty, but I literally started praying. I was like, Please, what is happening right now? Did I do something bad? Is there bad karma out here because I was scared to leave because so many things just got, you know, not going right for us. Sometimes when there’s too many bad signs, you just need to take those signs would not do something but we made it. We’re here safe.

George:
We’re here. We knew we would make it. And again if we have to, we’ll rough it with our beautiful 40.

Lisa:
Without a refrigerator microwave. We’ll just use a cooler. People do it right, Right, Right.

Geroge:
But we made it. We made good time. We got down here to New Orleans.

Lisa:
We’re excited about this week that we’ve got coming up. My daughter Lauren, is driving in with her girlfriend tonight. They’re gonna be here with us for the weekend. So I’m excited to be able to share this time with them and she’s super excited.

George:
And it’s her first time here.

Lisa:
Yeah, her first time at Mardi Gras. And I just like I guess the coolest thing about the bright side of all this negative stuff that’s been happening is, you’ve never lost your head. And we’ve never got angry with each other frustrated or we’ve had a million things that we could have just like lost it.

George:
Yeah, we could have pulled the plug a hundred different times for a hundred different reasons and just stuck together. And you know, we said we were gonna do this way have to get down to Orlando. We’re going to a podcast conference in Orlando.

So we have to get there. So, you know, there’s just no turning back. And to me, this is part of the adventure. Can you overcome these silly things? You know, these things are gonna break, So if you give up every time it breaks, you might as well not do it. And, you know, between Lisa and I, we both agreed that it’s not going to stop us. Nothing’s gonna stop us. We’re gonna push forward, and we’re gonna make the best of it. And when you learn from every experience.

Lisa:
Exactly. And I think that’s a big takeaway, you know, there’s always, like, a million little bad things that can happen, but just try to focus on the positive And for just we’re not gonna let this freezing cold rated all these issues stop. It’s this just gonna be fun and have a positive attitude?

So next week’s podcast should be very interesting because it will be able to tell you more about for all the fun we’re having this week and this weekend that Tuesday we’ve got two nights on a balcony on Bourbon Street throwing beads so you can look forward to seeing those photos at Rview Podcast on Instagram. You could follow us there in see our photos and videos, and then Rview from the Road that’s the letter R v i e w from the road. Um, George is all about our RV travels and things like that.

George:
So our final thoughts would be, I guess, Don’t give up. Just go for it. If you have something planned, go for it. Things are always gonna happen. There’s always gonna be obstacles in the way. And if you let those obstacles get to you, you’re gonna miss life. We could have easily cancel this trip and not been here, but here we are. We’re sitting here, It’s raining. The RV is broke, but we’re still positive about it. And we’re going to have a blast. So get out there and enjoy life.

Lisa:
We’re together. And don’t let Mercury retrograde got you down. And if you don’t know what that is, you should google it because it was really interesting to me. Anyways, George is gonna do a great job at taking photos at Rview from the Road and posting them on his Instagram this week.

George:
Yes! I promise.
